Complete Bruckner – “Karajan Digital Library” Vol. 21
“Bruckner’s music is primordial.”
Herbert von Karajan
Coincidence or not? Just a few days before Bruckner’s 200th anniversary, Deutsche Grammophon publishes Vol. 21 of its “Karajan Digital Library” entirely dedicated to Karajan’s Bruckner recordings. As you know, the only complete cycle of Bruckner symphonies Karajan recorded was compiled in 1982 for DG. The symphonies 1 – 3 and 6 only appeared there. Recently, Deutsche Grammophon also re-edited these recordings as a precious remastered LP box. “Karajan Digital Library” also contains the last recordings Karajan made of No. 8 and No.7 (his last-ever recording in April 1989).
