Music & Technology

In continuation of Herbert von Karajan’s lifelong fascination with technology, the Karajan Institute initiated the Karajan Music Tech Conference as well as a series of Classical Music Hackathons. These activities were conceived as platforms to explore recent developments in music technology and to support exchange between startups, investors, artists, technologists, and other stakeholders within the field of music innovation.

Over several years, the Karajan Music Tech Conference took place during the Easter Festival in Salzburg. Its focus was on presenting emerging technologies and fostering an international community of innovators working at the intersection of music and technology. Beyond Salzburg, the Karajan Institute collaborated with partners to realize international events associated with Karajan Music Tech, including editions in Beijing and Detroit, among others, in cooperation with partners such as Volkswagen.
