The Karajan Academy in concert

What’s new at the Karajan Academy? The academy with the aim of training and recruiting promising musicians for working in an orchestra was founded by Karajan at the Berlin Philharmonic over 50 years ago and is still a success. Just recently, the young musicians performed a major opus by Olivier Messiaen “Des canyons aux étoiles” written for the bicentenary of the United States in 1976. Sir Simon Rattle conducted and Kirill Gerstein was the piano soloist. The concert can be watched here on the Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall for free!
