Now offering more than 50 – STAGE+ doubles its number of Karajan films
It is significant how important the distribution of home videos was for Karajan. According to his biographer Peter Uehling, it was literally the last item he ever talked about in the meeting on 16 July 1989 with Norio Ogha and Michael Schulhof. Then the maestro suffered a heart attack and died.
Last week, we mentioned the latest Karajan publication on Deutsche Grammophon’s digital platform STAGE+, a set of 26 films produced by Telemondial and Unitel. But Deutsche Grammophon doesn’t stop there. Today, the amount was again nearly doubled! Every Karajanist now has a range of 51 concert and opera productions, ambitiously filmed as ever and now brilliantly digitized. The new set contains films like Verdi’s “Don Carlo” and “Falstaff”, Strauss’ “Rosenkavalier” and New Year’s Eve concerts from Berlin and Vienna. Have a look here!
